This game was so reminiscent of the 90s! I loved the classic 8bit horror/adventure game style, similar to more recent games like Ib or Witch's House which I really enjoyed too. Right from the start, Aveyond engaged me with its beautiful music and unique world design. The story, at least from the demo, felt unlike anything I'd seen before.
Just like other games like this, we follow a younger protagonist through her adventures in a strange new world. (Though from her character design and art, I would say she was in her early/mid teens, lol.) I've always liked the ability to talk to NPCs and going on quests, which this game certainly has a few unique ones. I enjoyed the gameplay itself, reminding me of early RPGs with its turn-based combat and exploration. I felt immersed as I traveled the forest in search of the school, or going on quests. I also enjoyed how you had to go searching/exploring in order to fulfill quests/move on, instead of having every little bit spoonfed to you. It felt like a real adventure. Overall I recommend this game!
Rated 5 out of 5 by SRKAnimator from I LOVE AVEYOND! This is the best role playing game I ever play (better than golden sun and Legend of Zelda). I like how the quest keep player going around the world to complete, for some people will think it boring but for me I like it that way cause I don't need to stay in the same place farming EXP. I like Rhen so much, she so straight forward when speaking, also thank you so much to game maker who make the main character able to have conversation in game, because most of role playing game always make main character follow the advice from someone or villager, and while everyone in the group are having conversation, the main character stay silent only nod his/her head to show that he/she agree or not, I don't like that because I feel the main character is being left behind. The story is funny, and I keep on laughing so much every time I read their conversation. LOVE THIS GAME SO MUCH!
Rated 5 out of 5 by pinkgum812 from A Great RPG For All Aveyond, I think this game has become one of my ALLTIME favorite games ever. Is it because it's fun? Maybe it has an AWESOME story? ALL of the above.
Aveyond is an RPG that will take a nice while to beat. Fun: I think this game is a spectacular game with lots of fun to be had, with lots of strategy involved to fight bosses Sound: This game's soundtrack is awesome! Challenge: This game is pretty hard, but if you have good thinking skills (or stayed in the shop thinking of the best items to buy for at least 10 minutes at a time like me) it isn't TOO hard. Storyline: Now, I will not spoil much of the story for people who haven't played it, but it has several 'surprises' that are not thought of in most RPGs, you start the game off as Rhen, a normal girl, and a few minutes into the game, she must find flowers, and the last leads to a man, who decides to capture her and make her a slave. Where she meets her partner, I think that is a great idea in my opinion. And many great things are to come in this game To Sum It up, this is a great game who I recommend to all RPG fans, (Like me) which is why I give this game a 5/5. Rated 5 out of 5 by TraeTrae from Buy them all if you can!!!
I have always enjoyed playing RPG's (Role Playing Games). They are one of my favorite genre of games. The first time I played this game I fell in love and bought the first two games in the series. As I started to play the second game I went ahead and bought the next couple so I wouldn't have to stop playing.

Honestly If I didn't have to pay bills that week I would have bought the all of them in one fell swoop. There are so many side adventures in these types of games that it is literally impossible to get bored or to play the same game twice even if you have played the same one twice lol. Rated 5 out of 5 by tuskel from My first RPG I had two Game Credits left over after I recently quit the Game Club, and as there was no new Nancy Drew to have, I thought I'd try one of those RPGs I had seen on offer from time to time. I didn't know which to get really, but I remembered Aveyond, so I decided to give it a go. From the beginning, I thought it looked silly, the movement was really slow and the landscape seemed to be as awkward as possible - houses really far away with really long winding paths leading to them, clumps of grass and stones in your way.
My trial hour ran out just as I was about to leave the village to go chasing sheep (which triggers the proper story). I was in two minds whether to get it, but then thought, what the heck, this game credit would run out soon anyway, and used it. Straight away, after Rhen was whisked away to Ghalarah, the story became much more interesting, music was great, landscape wasn't as awkward anymore etc.
And, after about two days, when the game crashed and wouldn't start, and I had to install it onto the C drive instead of my memory stick, the movement sped up considerably. I really like the story, old as it is, different lands had their distinctive music, buildings, plants and animals, (lots of creatures to battle!) and it was funny to talk to the characters walking around in towns. I also thought progressing to different areas was well done, first you were confined to Eastern Continent, with access to North and Aveyond, then, as you level up and acquire a boat, ship and dragon (yay!), more and more areas become available with harder to battle monsters. Final battle is very hard, but there are items to help available, as well as walkthroughs etc. I think I spent about 40 hrs on this game, over the course of a week, and I felt it was definitely worth the money. Lots of replay value, as there are different characters to use in your party, and different items to acquire, as well as loads of side quests to finish.
All in all, a credit well spent, and I also used up the other credit for Aveyond 2. I think I will have to come back to BigFish to buy other games from the same developer too!
Tuskel, sincerely.

What other reasons do I find it better then Aveyond 1? Well, let's find out. Fun: I think this game is slightly more fun then Aveyond 1, giving you more opportunity to choose. (I'll talk about this in Storyline) And has more party members to get. And is much easier. And it is just great, believe me. Sound: I think this game's sound track is just as good as the first Aveyond, which was also amazing.
Challenge: I did say that it was easier then Aveyond 1, but that doesn't mean it's THAT easy. (Once again, talking about most of the hard stuff in storyline) I still think this game is challenging. Story: This game has you as a boy named Ean in his quest. In the first few minutes of the game, you find your best friend, Iya, who has just failed her magic test. Later on Iya is in a dream.
(Which I am not spoiling) And she decides to live with the Ice Queen. And Ean is the only one who remembers. So Ean goes to where Iya is being held hostage, and frees her.
Aveyond For Mac
What you are asking is 'Why did Snow Queen want Iya in the first place?' Which the answer is her raw power. Which you can control in game. Earlier in my review I said that you had more choice in this game then Aveyond one. Because of the fact of Magic Guilds. Magic Guilds are things that Iya can use for more magic. You can only use 1 in the WHOLE game.

Which requires you to think. And you have to think more strategically. And one more thing you have to think of, is in one point in the game, you have a choice, do you want a party member that can heal you? Or be a really good attacker. (I recommend attacker) Which you have to think REALLY hard about. Which makes it so you must think strategically. Which is why this is better then Aveyond 1 To Sum It All Up: I think this game has more thinking involved in it.
Which is why I give this game, a 5/5. Rated 5 out of 5 by Linny394 from Excellent Sequel Bringing back primarily minor characters from the first Aveyond, Aveyond 2 draws the player into its unique story and threatens to never let them go again.;P While I did love this game, overall, I have extremely mixed feelings on the goodie caves included within the game. One one hand I did appreciate the ability to quickly work my way through certain parts of the game. On the other hand, I thought that the caves took away the challenge, which is part of the reason why Aveyond is so much fun. But then, the caves can just be avoided, so that's not too big of an issue. Rated 5 out of 5 by Orangetwice from Aveyond 2 You control a party of characters exploring and on missions to accomplish. You fight battles and grow in strength, experience and money with each battle.
You can return to towns to recover health and purchase stronger weapons and armor. You can pick different skills at the beginning to provide randomness to your character. You can also pick and choose who is in your party. Different characters have different skills, experience and weapons they can use. Most of the story and tasks are non-liner. You must save yourself often to restart when you get killed.
Length Long – several hundreds of hours.
